Disgraced pundit Richard Keys apologised to Bruno Fernandes after after the accusation against Bruno Fernandes

After implying that Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, intentionally received a yellow card so he could miss his team’s match against Liverpool, Richard Keys has expressed regret to the player.

Richard Keys accuses Bruno Fernandes of getting booked on purpose

In Saturday’s crushing 3-0 loss to Bournemouth, Fernandes was given a late yellow card for disobedience. It was the Cherries’ first victory at Old Trafford.

The captain of United, who received his fifth yellow of the year, will miss his team’s crucial match against Liverpool on Sunday.

After the match, Keys said that the Portuguese international was aware of what he was doing and intended to make sure he missed United’s 7-0 loss to Anfield the previous season.

He probably knew he would get booked and would have to miss the game. That’s about it, in my opinion. Keys stated on beIN Sports, “He is not a leader or a captain.”

Since then, the claim has drawn a lot of criticism, with former United player Phil Neville calling it a “disgrace.”

Although Keys apparently seems to have retracted part of the claim, he nevertheless called Fernandes’ conduct “irresponsible.”

‘I’m happy to withdraw the allegation and apologise to Fernandes. Let’s leave it at him being downright irresponsible,’ the pundit said in a column on his website.

‘Fernandes is such a good player. If he concentrated on doing the opposition damage, with the abundance of talent that he’s got, he’d have far more impact on games – rather than falling over all the time and chipping away at refs.

‘They’re onto him. Collapsing holding his shin or face doesn’t work anymore.’
