Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure as Manchester United boss following the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

United were, at times, toothless in attack and you would expect wholesale changes to be made by Ten Hag as the Red Devils need a win at all costs to keep their faint hopes of Champions League qualification alive.

Following the game against Bayern, the Red Devils have the small matter of a trip to Anfield to come, it’s an important week for the former Ajax boss.

Here is our predicted XI for the clash against the Bundesliga champions.

Defence and midfield

In goal, of course, will be Andre Onana who has steadily improved as the season has gone on. Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw will be the central defensive pairing, despite Raphael Varane’s availability. Victor Lindelof was a doubt ahead of training yesterday.

Sergio Reguilon will start at left-back for the Red Devils with Aaron Wan-Bissaka coming in at right-back to deal with the attacking prowess that the German side offer.

Midfield is the crucial area of the pitch that Ten Hag needs to get right and it seems like his decision is a simple one. Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo should really be the pairing in the midfield to deal with the Bavarian outfit with Bruno Fernandes pushing further forward – however, Ten Hag has never started the pair together before.

It is more likely Mainoo misses out, and once again Scott McTominay will start the game against the German side as he joined Ten Hag in the pre-match press conference.

Forward

The front three should be a rather simple decision. Rasmus Hojlund has been on the bench for Anthony Martial in recent weeks but the Danish forward has to come back into the team, especially in the competition where he has netted five goals.

In the wide areas, Alejandro Garnacho has to keep his spot but the right winger position is a tough one to call. Antony was okay against Bournemouth but perhaps it is time that Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri comes into the eleven.

Ten Hag has to do something drastic to catch Bayern off guard, starting Pellistri would be exactly that. Marcus Rashford missed training yesterday with illness and faces a late test to make the squad.

Manchester United’s predicted XI: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Shaw, Reguilon; Amrabat, McTominay, Fernandes; Pellistri, Hojlund, Garnacho.
