Manchester United were eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday due to injuries to Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.
Maguire was taken out in the first half of Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford, while Shaw was taken off at halftime.
United manager Erik ten Hag later stated that assessing both players would take 24 hours as he prepared for Sunday’s Premier League game against Liverpool.
Maguire looked to strain his groin and was replaced in the 40th minute by Jonny Evans after signaling he couldn’t continue. The England center back stepped up unchallenged, clutching the inner of his left thigh in pain.
He returned to the field, but was still holding his groin and waving to the dugout that he couldn’t continue.
After being stripped of his captaincy and relegated to the outskirts of United’s team, the defender has recently fought his way back into Ten Hag’s plans.
Shaw’s substitution at halftime for Aaron Wan-Bissaka added to United’s fears.
