Paul Scholes criticizes two Man Utd players to be ‘quite selfish’ after Champions League exit

Man United’s elimination from Group A means that Erik ten Hag was unable to even qualify for the Europa League, and the club’s disastrous Champions League campaign comes to an end.

Concerned about the assault, legendary Manchester United player Paul Scholes has shifted his focus to wingers Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.

Scholes told TNT Sports that neither Antony nor Garnacho provided the creativity that United required from wide out.

Scholes even characterized them as “extremely self-centered” players who are more concerned with scoring for themselves than with setting up colleagues.

“You expect creativity from your wide players, Antony and Garnacho, but they are quite selfish players,” said Scholes. “They are not players who are looking up, they’re thinking about scoring their own goals, thinking about scoring themselves,” he added.

Antony and Garnacho combined for zero crucial passes and zero accurate crosses prior to their substitution in the 74th minute against Bayern.

That is insufficient in a game that United merely needed to win, as the team is creatively devoid of any substance.

Rasmus Hojlund once more failed to register a shot on target due to a lack of service and failed to even attempt to get a glimpse.

The Dane possesses ability, but he is currently unable to receive the ball inside the box from Garnacho or Antony.

Against Bournemouth, it hardly improved as it combined for nine crosses, of which only one found a United player.

Antony and Garnacho both possess considerable talent and promise. However, their functions as inverted wingers may differ slightly from those of traditional wide players, who would approach the touchline and execute whipped crosses.

However, the current performance is insufficient; if United wish to maximize Hojlund’s potential, Antony and Garnacho must initiate the process of locating him in the penalty area.
