Sir Jim Ratcliffe prefers the former Chelsea manager in case Erik ten Hag is sacked

When Sir Jim Ratcliffe takes over as Manchester United’s football operations manager, he may want to replace Erik ten Hag with Graham Potter, according to rumors.

If it were to occur, it would be among the least popular choices ever made. Permit me to quickly add that!

The Sun reports that the INEOS billionaire met with the former Chelsea head coach and thinks highly of the former Brighton coach after considering him to take over his Ligue 1 team OGC Nice.

After less than a season in command, Potter, 48, was fired by Chelsea in April. Since then, he has not managed. According to the story, he declined the opportunity to take over as manager of Stoke City in the Championship this week, replacing Alex Neil.

I would be concerned if Ratcliffe had stated that the manager’s position is among the main issues he is facing at Old Trafford, even if I am perfectly aware that people are talking about it. If anything, Ten Hag has demonstrated that the next manager ought to support him and that some space in the dressing room needs to be cleaned away.

If things go really bad, we can reevaluate the situation, but I personally don’t think it’s a good idea to fire management before his 25% buyout is approved.

Meanwhile, there are rumors circulating in Germany that Ten Hag would join Borussia Dortmund in the upcoming year, although they now seem wildly inaccurate.

United is coming off two losses when they visit Anfield this weekend. After falling to Bayern Munich 1-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, the Reds were eliminated from Europe.

Ten Hag is hoping that the visit to Anfield won’t be the last one.
