Sir Jim Ratcliffe could look to replace Erik ten Hag with former Chelsea manager

According to sources, when Sir Jim Ratcliffe takes over as manager of Manchester United’s football operations, he may look to replace Erik ten Hag with Graham Potter.

If it were to happen, it would be one of the most unpopular judgments… Allow me to get that in immediately!

According to The Sun, the INEOS billionaire spoke with the former Chelsea head coach and rates the ex-Brighton coach highly after previously considering him to take control of his Ligue 1 club OGC Nice.

Potter, 48, has not managed since being fired by Chelsea in April after only a year in charge. According to the story, he passed down the opportunity to succeed Alex Neil as manager of Championship club Stoke this week.

Although I am aware that the manager’s position is being discussed, I would be concerned if Ratcliffe has highlighted it as one of the most serious issues he faces at Old Trafford. Ten Hag has demonstrated that he should be supported by the future manager – and that a section of the locker room should be taken out.

We can reassess the issue if it becomes a complete disaster, but talking about dismissing managers before his 25% buyout is approved doesn’t set right with me.

Meanwhile, rumors in Germany claim that Ten Hag could be employed by Borussia Dortmund in the new year, although they appear to be far-fetched at this point.

United travel to Anfield this weekend after two defeats. The Reds were eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday night after losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag will be hoping that the journey to Anfield will not be the last straw.
