Sir Jim Ratcliffe is eyeing on former Chelsea manager to replace Erik ten Hag

According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe may consider Graham Potter to be the successor to Erik ten Hag as manager of football operations at Manchester United.

If that were to occur, it would rank among the most contentious choices ever made… Permit me to bring that in immediately!

According to The Sun, the INEOS billionaire reportedly conferred with the former Chelsea head coach and holds the ex-Brighton coach in high regard, having previously considered him to lead his Ligue 1 club OGC Nice.

Potter, 48, has failed to achieve success since Chelsea fired him in April following less than a season in command. According to the report, he declined the opportunity to succeed Alex Neil as Stoke’s manager of the Championship this week.

While acknowledging the discourse surrounding the manager’s position, I would be concerned if Ratcliffe has identified that as one of the most significant challenges he encounters at Old Trafford. Ten Hag has demonstrated, if anything, that the next manager should support him and that a portion of the locker room requires cleaning.

We can reevaluate the situation if it devolves into a complete disaster, but the notion of dismissing managers prior to the ratification of his 25% buyout does not inspire confidence in me.

In the interim, rumors circulating in Germany indicate that Borussia Dortmund may employ Ten Hag in the new year; however, these rumors appear to be quite speculative at this time.

Manchester United travels to Anfield this weekend having suffered two losses. Tuesday night, the Reds were eliminated from Europe by Bayern Munich 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag will be hoping that the visit to Anfield does not serve as the last straw.
