PSG have reportedly been given the opportunity to buy Manchester United midfielder Casemiro during the January transfer window.
The Brazilian international made an impression in his first season at Old Trafford, scoring seven goals in 51 appearances and helping United win the EFL Cup.
However, the 31-year-old has unable to recreate the form he displayed in 2022-23, and injury has limited him to only 12 appearances.
Casemiro has looked off the pace at times this season, and Erik ten Hag expects him to improve once he recovers from an injury that has kept him out since November 1.
at his absence, United have struggled to find consistency, and a defeat to Bayern Munich saw them exit the Champions League at the group stage.
The loss of money that would have been generated by reaching the final 16 may now have an impact on United’s capacity to do business at the end of the year.
Prior to his departure from European football’s top flight, a source indicated that Casemiro was one of several players under consideration for a move.
According to Le10Sport, Casemiro’s agent has already decided to inquire about PSG’s interest in discussing a deal with United.
Rather than focusing on younger talent, a summer policy adjustment resulted in a mix of youth and experience appearing at Parc des Princes.
With Luis Enrique’s preferred midfield trio of Warren Zaire-Emery, Manuel Ugarte, and Vitinha all under the age of 23, Casemiro’s prospects of a transfer might theoretically improve.
However, it is uncertain whether a resolution before January is a realistic prospect, with the process dependant on the sum United would want for a player who is not performing at his peak.
