Graham Potter is wanted by Manchester United! Former Chelsea manager has been linked with a surprise return to the Premier League, with incoming executive Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly in contact

Manchester United are apparently interested in hiring Graham Potter to replace Erik ten Hag, and the ex-Chelsea manager has already spoken with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The British billionaire is likely to assume control of United’s football activities with a 25% stake worth £1.3 billion. According to The Sun, he is thinking of replacing current manager Erik ten Hag in the Red Devils’ dugout with Potter. Despite not considering Ten Hag’s immediate dismissal, Ratcliffe may be forced to rethink the position if United fail to improve their poor run, which saw them exit Europe after finishing last in their Champions League group.

Ten Hag is under increased scrutiny following United’s withdrawal from European play and the Carabao Cup. However, the Dutch manager could end up with a Champions League team after BILD columnist Jan Aage Fjortoft connected him with German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund.

However, despite their struggles in the Bundesliga, the Black and Yellows finished first in Group F of the Champions League, ahead of a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain, which may be enough for Edin Terzic to save his skin for the time being.

“Wild rumour in Germany,” Fjortoft wrote on X. Ten Hag could be Dortmund’s new coach. Remember… Sammer (adviser Dortmund) has previously used ten Hag (Bayern). Let’s wait and see what occurs in the new year.”

Potter has turned multiple coaching offers since leaving Chelsea in April. He was apparently given the role of Sweden’s national team coach in late November, but he declined. Potter previously had success with Ostersunds, guiding them to three promotions in five years and the Swedish Cup in 2017.

Ratcliffe has long admired Potter, who was widely seen as the prime choice to take over as manager of Ligue 1 club Nice following the resignation of Didier Digard. However, the relocation did not take place, and Francesco Farioli was appointed instead. However, if United fail to resurrect their fortunes under Ten Hag fast enough, things could finally fall into place for Potter and the INEOS sporting company.
