After United was eliminated from the Champions League by Bayern Munich in the middle of the week, the Dutchman is under further pressure. That outcome occurred only a few days after they were humiliated 3-0 at Old Trafford by Bournemouth, and they now have a difficult journey to face their bitter rivals, Liverpool, coming up.

Although Ten Hag had a fantastic rookie season in Manchester, he is currently in danger after leading the team to its worst season start in decades this year. However, Evans has urged the club administration to support their man by giving him a chance to play in the winter window.

Speaking to Norwegian outlet FotbollSkanalen post-match, Evans said of Ten Hag: “He is a fantastic coach and I have no doubts about him. In January we get a new window and a chance to improve the team. Not playing in Europe will give him more time.

“We’ve had a tough period but hopefully, we’ll get players back from injuries and get more consistency in the team. It would be good for him [Ten Hag].”

The veteran defender’s remarks coincide with reports that former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new potential co-owner of Manchester United.

After his £1.25 billion agreement for a 25% ownership in the club is completed, the Ineos CEO will take over all sporting operations and will have the last say on Ten Hag. Though earlier reports suggested Ten Hag’s job was secure, Ratcliffe’s conversations with Potter seem to suggest a change is now conceivable.

The Sun published a second report that clarified the meeting and suggested that the former Ajax manager might resign after suffering a crushing defeat to Liverpool, who defeated United 7-0 in March.

United is currently significantly behind their top Premier League competitors, having lost out on a Europa League spot as a result of finishing last in Group A. Even worse for Ten Hag, he has 13 players out for Sunday’s crucial game due to a debilitating injury issue.
