The “reality” of Manchester City’s troubles this season, according to Jack Grealish, is that they’ve played “very good teams” recently, and it’s thus “not the end of the world” as people believe.
City have lost three Premier League games this season, drawn three more, and are currently fourth in the table, four points behind first-placed Liverpool.
City has won just one of their last five league games, drawing three and losing another. They were top of the league before those games, and Grealish believes fans should relax because there’s an explanation for why they’ve failed.
“I think a lot of people like to talk about City and act like it’s a big crisis, but in reality, we’ve played against very good teams,” Grealish told the Mirror.
“We played the Spurs, who were great. Liverpool is the league leader.
“And then we played Chelsea and Aston Villa away, who have one of the best home records in Europe, so we played fantastic teams.”
“We lost one and drew three, so it’s not the end of the world but people like to pretend it is sometimes.”
Indeed, many teams would have fallen short in games against big teams like the ones City has lately faced, especially after doing so on consecutive occasions.
However, Pep Guardiola’s team is a juggernaut that generally loses fewer straight games than they have recently, leading to people’s surprise at their troubles.
However, their next four league games will be against Crystal Palace, Brentford, Everton, and Sheffield United. They’ll aim to take three points from each of those games, and there may be some hammerings to show other teams up there that they haven’t let up.
They’re not going to fall apart because of a few bad performances, and by the end of the season, they’ll most likely be at the top of the table.
