David de Gea teases fans drops with cryptic message, reveals a return to Premier League

In recent weeks, David de Gea, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, has been frequently linked to a return to the Premier League. He has also been teasing fans online with cryptic messages.

The 33-year-old veteran goalkeeper is still single despite leaving Old Trafford at the end of his contract in the summer. However, in recent weeks, he has been connected to other teams.

De Gea may sign with teams outside of the transfer window because he is a free agent, so he could be back before January officially begins. The Spaniard has also gotten fans buzzing again after hinting at a move in recent weeks by tweeting a mysterious message.

The animated caption “Work, work, work” accompanied a photo of goalkeeping gloves on a field that De Gea posted to his 15 million followers on Instagram. It should come as no surprise that since the post, the rumor mill on social media has accelerated.

Recently, De Gea has been a priority target for Newcastle, who are without their starting center, Nick Pope, because of a dislocated shoulder. De Gea would be a capable, seasoned replacement for Eddie Howe’s team, as the England international is anticipated to miss the majority of the season.

Pope has been replaced by Martin Dubravka, but the Magpies will likely weigh their alternatives in the upcoming weeks. However, they are not the sole Premier League team considering a transfer for De Gea.

Last month, rumors circulated that Manchester United was prepared to make contact with De Gea in an effort to entice him to return to Old Trafford. Goalkeeper Andre Onana, who was brought in to replace De Gea in the summer, may miss four games when he departs for the Africa Cup of Nations the following month.

Though it’s unclear if United would formally approach De Gea, it’s also unclear if the former Atletico Madrid player would consider coming back to Old Trafford less than a year after departing.

De Gea has already declined offers from a number of teams, notably the Saudi Pro League’s generous offers. He is’more receptive’ to offers today, according to The Mail, and might consider going back to England, the publication said at the beginning of the month.
