Manchester United’s season appears to be coming to an end in the view of fans. They were eliminated from the Champions League after finishing last in their group, behind Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen. They are already ten points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool. Many believed that this summer’s nearly £200 million in signings would provide Ten Hag with the resources he needed to compete for championships, but that hasn’t occurred.

KEANE REVEALS WHO HE’D KEEP FROM THE CURRENT MANCHESTER UNITED SQUAD

Club veteran Roy Keane was speaking on the Stick to Football podcast with Ian Wright, Jamie Carragher, and Gary Neville. He believes that the entire squad needs to be revamped if United is to get out of their current bind. If given the opportunity, Keane discussed who he would keep and who he would let go from the present group.

The Sky Sports commentator selected only seven players he wants to keep. He named the seven players as Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and summer acquisitions Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund.

Keane also stated that he would retain Erik ten Hag as manager.

KEANE’S LIST SURPRISE INCLUSIONS AND EXCLUSIONS

Keane opted to part ways with veteran Manchester United players Raphael Varane and Christian Eriksen, both of whom are having poor seasons. On the other hand, he left out Harry Maguire, who is having a fantastic season. He also questioned Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford, saying he would give them a “last chance.” The other exclusions are somewhat understandable.

When it comes to unexpected additions, only one name sticks out: Mason Mount. Mount, who was signed from Chelsea this summer for £60 million, has fallen short of expectations. He failed to impress the manager and is currently out with an injury. Mount, on the other hand, hasn’t been deployed in his favored position. He is undeniably gifted, and at the age of 24, he is still in his prime.
