Replacing Matip, Jarell Quansah’s performance for Liverpool in the Europa League is going viral

Following Liverpool’s 2-1 Europa League defeat to Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, a compilation of Jarell Quansah’s performance has gone viral.

The 20-year-old defender was filling in as center-back for the injured Joel Matip, who suffered a knee injury against Fulham earlier this month.

Quansah had an immediate impact, handling the ball superbly in the 18-yard area from the corner before slamming the ball home to tie the game.

Unfortunately, the youngster’s goal was insufficient to secure the victory, as goals from Mohamed Amoura and Cameron Puertas stole all three points for the Belgians.

Nonetheless, Liverpool won their group and will advance to the Europa League knockout stages.

A compilation of Quansah’s performance has since emerged, demonstrating the Englishman’s talent. You can see it below.

Following the defeat, the teenager expressed his sympathy to Matip for his injury, but said he intended to “get over him anyway.”

“At the start of the season when I stayed and didn’t go on loan, I thought ‘I want to play in these games’,” Quansah told LFCTV, having spent six months out on loan in League One with Bristol Rovers last season.

“Obviously it’s a shame what happened to Joel and my condolences to him, but my idea was to try and get over him anyway and try and be a starting centre-back in the Premier League. Hopefully more opportunities come, I’m just really trying to push on and be the best centre-back I can.”
