Jurgen Klopp explains the ‘truth’ about Liverpool’s vulnerabilities throughout the rebuilding process

Jurgen Klopp has discounted the possibility of Liverpool thrashing Manchester United 7-0 again, calling it a “once in a lifetime” performance and a “freak”.

When Erik ten Hag’s team visited Anfield in March, Liverpool won their biggest-ever victory over United in a rivalry that dates back to the nineteenth century.

And United, who have lost 12 games in all competitions and have been knocked out of Europe, return to Anfield on Sunday to face Klopp’s league leaders.

The Liverpool boss, however, is confident that a similar scoreline will not occur, stating, “The 7-0, it was a freak result that happens once in a lifetime.”

“If you take everything into account and just play a football game against Liverpool’s historical rival at Anfield, that must make it a special game, and that’s what I want to see from us, a special game.” Understand the situation completely and offer your all: that is all I require.”

Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday, but Klopp is ignoring the league and focusing on the trophy.

“When you’re at the top of the table in early December, people start thinking about different things, but we obviously don’t,” he stated. I’ve been in the business too long for it to mean anything to me; it’s better than being 18th or 20th, but it’s still simply a position for the time being, and we must continue to work really hard.”

Klopp stated that he is unsure how much his new-look club can accomplish. Liverpool have a tendency of coming from behind, which he admires, but the German believes they struggle to be consistent in all aspects of games when they become accustomed to one other.

“What exactly is the real capability?” he inquired. “What can you do right now or what can you do in three or four years working together?” We saw what we could achieve in the moment, and we also saw the problems.

“It’s obvious when you put together a new group – and it is a new group – with new players and different roles for other players.” You need time to acquire some steadiness, and that’s what we lack in these times. But, in the end, it worked out somehow, and we must continue to improve even in the most difficult situations.”
