Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has urged the club to go all-in and buy Liverpool forward Dominik Solanke before the winter transfer window closes. The former defensive midfielder-turned-pundit feels Solanke can assist the Red Devils improve their goal scoring.
Solanke is hardly a newcomer to the Premier League. Between 2017 and 2019, the attacker played for Liverpool but was unable to unseat the quartet of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane.
He moved to Bournemouth and has elevated his skills, scoring 65 goals in six seasons across all competitions.
Hargreaves stated his want to see Solanke at Old Trafford ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool this weekend.
“I’d take him at Manchester United every time.” “He was the prized academy player at Chelsea,” the former defensive midfielder told The Metro.”He went to Liverpool with that brilliant, generational front three.” He’d never be able to break into that. But I believe he would have learned from Firmino, Mane, and Salah. We witnessed it when Wilf (Zaha) moved to Manchester United. He wasn’t prepared. He was much too young.”
It goes without saying that Dominik Solanke has had an outstanding start to the 2023-24 season. He has made 19 appearances for Bournemouth in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing one assist. Hargreaves feels the attacker will make a big move soon, whether to Manchester United or elsewhere.
“I believe Solanke will get another big move now.” Whether it is Manchester United or not. But getting a child that large and technically that excellent, who is clever enough to run the channels and push, is difficult. “I am confident he will get another shot at the top,” the Englishman concluded.
Solanke recently demonstrated his abilities by scoring the opening goal in Bournemouth’s 3-0 triumph over Manchester United last weekend.
