Celtics Forward Makes Provocative Remark About Boston’s Reserve Unit

The Boston Celtics defeated the Orlando Magic at home on Friday night despite the fact that none of its rotational centers were available.

As a result, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was forced to rely on the second unit to keep Boston’s undefeated home record (13-0) alive during what has been a perfect homestand. Long story short, that worked, and despite having a far stronger front court, outrebounding Boston 45-34, the Magic couldn’t keep up. Orlando was unable to close the scoring disparity created by the Celtics’ bench, which scored 47 points.

The output from Boston’s bench came as no surprise to fellow reserve unit member Oshae Brissett.

“I am convinced that our second unit is superior to the first unit of many teams.” “I can say that confidently,” Brissett told reporters after the game, according to a CLNS Media video. “… I feel like all of the guys coming off the bench, including Payton (Pritchard), Sam (Hauser), and Al (Horford), are players who can start on any team.” We see how we want to play, so putting that into the second unit with guys that truly want to go out there and show what they can do, I feel like we have one of the league’s finest benches.”

Brissett, like others who await their turn every night, answered the call and stepped up to the plate. The 25-year-old scored a season-high 11 points while shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, allowing the starting unit to breathe a sigh of relief.

Brissett was clearly prepared for Mazzulla’s summons, despite having been patient throughout the season’s first 23 games for such an opportunity to contribute.

“I know what I can bring to the table and that’s energy and being excited to be out there with these guys,” she said. “Any given night I can be out there, I’m gonna do that.”

“I’ve always been confident in my jump shot,” Brissett remarked. I don’t think anything has changed, so I just have to shoot with confidence whenever I have the chance. That’s what Joe has been telling me since the summer.”

Mazzulla’s general belief in Boston’s darkhorse contributors came off handsomely, as it will at other moments throughout the season.
