Gary Neville believes Anfield was’silent’ during Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United

Due to a lack of skill in front of goal, Liverpool and Manchester United battled to a goalless draw at a ‘quiet’ Anfield.

Given their opponents’ previous poor form, many expected the Reds to easily defeat Erik ten Hag’s team.

Liverpool were left frustrated by United at Anfield

Manchester United overcame Liverpool at Anfield.

Last season, Liverpool dominated this game 7-0, and United hasn’t scored at Anfield since a 3-1 loss in 2018.

Despite previous failures, Ten Hag and company were able to cling on for a point against a barrage of Liverpool chances.

The hosts pushed and puffed in an attempt to score early, but to no avail.

Gary Neville, a Manchester United icon and Sky Sports analyst, was uncomfortable with the atmosphere at such a historic arena as halftime approached.

“This is the worst atmosphere I’ve seen from a Manchester United vs Liverpool game, it’s never been as quiet, and that’s from five minutes in.”

On Sunday, Anfield did not look to have one of the top stadium atmospheres in the world.

During the second half, Trent Alexander-Arnold was seen motioning to the crowd to make more noise in hopes to inspire a late winner.

Despite his efforts, Liverpool were unable to score the goal that would have made it four Premier League victory in a row.

Neville was not one to praise the atmosphere inside the stadium

The ambiance inside the stadium did not appeal to Neville.

Darwin Nunez was admonished for squandering a late-game chance when he could have pursued the ball and kept the opportunity alive.

United had chances to score as well, but their counter-attacks were not matched with the right final-third decisions.

When their recent form and record against the Reds are taken into account, a draw is surely a result they will be satisfied with.

In contrast, Liverpool has squandered a chance to recover first position in the Premier League.

They currently trail leaders Arsenal by one point but are four points ahead of champions Manchester City.
