Chelsea have a new acquisition in Mykhailo Mudryk, a Ukrainian international with a number of fascinating tattoos.
The Blues sealed an £88 million deal for the forward last month, outbidding Arsenal to capture Mudryk’s signature.
The Gunners picked the teenage winger as their main target, but they were unable to agree on a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk, so Chelsea stepped in.
He was one of six new Blues signings and has already shown flashes of his explosive pace. But one of Mudryk’s most notable characteristics are his distinctive tattoos.
What do Mudryk’s tattoos mean?
Mudryk has several tattoos all over his body, many of which are religious in nature.
One of the most noticeable pieces of ink is the one on Mudryk’s neck.
It says ‘Only Jesus’ and has an infinity sign above it.
The primary parts are inscribed into the 22-year-old’s torso, and a couple of them appear to have religious significance as well.
The one on the right side of his body is also related to Christianity and contains a letter to God.
On the other side of his chest, there is an inked heart and football.
This tattoo is self-explanatory and plainly relates to Mudryk’s passion for football.
In addition, he has two tattoos on the back of his left and right arms.
The Ukrainian international also has other tattoos on his hands, all of them are clearly related to Mudryk’s faith.
He has a cross tattooed on his left thumb, as well as the letters ‘F’ and ‘E’ etched on the insides of his right and left palms.
When these two words are combined in the form of a prayer, the Portuguese word for ‘faith’ is formed.
And the words ‘Thank you God’ are scrawled on one of his right fingers.
The forward also has the phrase ‘Again’ carved six times on his right thigh, which is presumably motivation for Mudryk to keep improving.
Clearly, faith and religion are important parts of Mudryk’s life, and he has communicated his conviction through some interesting tattoos.
The new Chelsea man is an intriguing figure with a large price tag on his shoulders, so it will be interesting to see how he performs at Stamford Bridge.
