‘Don’t know how it’s possible’: Scholes left bewildered by Rasmus Hojlund stat against Liverpool

On Sunday at Anfield, Rasmus Hojlund endured a difficult time during Manchester United’s scoreless stalemate with Liverpool.

With one on hand, Erik ten Hag and company would have been ecstatic with a point and a clean sheet, as many anticipated Liverpool to breeze past them.

They from Manchester United managed to cross the line and earn a point in one of the most tedious and scrappy contests you will ever witness.

However, it was not beautiful, as evidenced by Rasmus Hojlund’s four touches of the ball in the first half, which, according to Premier League Productions, stunned Paul Scholes.

The legendary Manchester United player bluntly inquired, “How is it possible for a footballer to see so little of the ball?”

While Liverpool generated opportunity after opportunity. They maintained control of the ball and prevented their opponents from advancing.

Furthermore, the effectiveness of a team is largely determined by the quality of its service. In the second half, when Bruno Fernandes was suspended, little progress was made towards Rasmus Hojlund until he had a guilt-edge one-on-one opportunity and struck it directly at Alisson Becker.

“People like Hojlund, not really touched the ball,” said Scholes. “Four touches. I don’t know how it’s possible for a footballer to play, what was it 47 minutes?! And he’s only touched the ball 4 times, it’s incredible.”

One could not mount an argument against it on the basis of previous results, particularly that 7-0 record from the previous season.

In spite of this, Manchester United will be considerably more content with a point, having prevented Liverpool from regaining the lead in the Premier League standings.

Arsenal are currently in the lead and will be the visitors to Anfield on Saturday for a highly anticipated heavyweight matchup.

However, prior to those two matches commencing, Aston Villa will be at the summit of the table if they defeat Sheffield United on Friday.
