According to Graeme Souness, Manchester City and Arsenal should be the favorites for the Champions League.
On Monday morning, the Premier League duo’s names were drawn from a hat for the competition’s last 16, with both teams obtaining fortunate draws.
Guardiola and Arteta will be overjoyed with their respective Champions League draws.
Mikel Arteta’s team was drawn against Porto in the first round, while Manchester City will face Copenhagen in the second round.
With both clubs set to go to the quarter-finals and beyond, Souness delivered his assessment on the Champions League last 16 draw, implying that the English clubs had nothing to fear.
Souness told White And Jordan, “I don’t know what the standout tie is.” Inter vs. Atletico may be a case of who blinks first, with the beginnings of those games being about not wanting to lose rather than coming out on the front foot and attempting to win it from the start.
“I enjoy watching Bayern play because they always try to win games, and Real Madrid is the same.”
“Perhaps this is a huge compliment to the Premier League, but when I look at Spanish football, Italian football, and German football – and then there’s PSG, who are not the same team – I have doubts about the leagues.”
“They’re not even close to our league.” There isn’t the same level of intensity, and I’m not sure if they have the same level of desire that our players do.
“I believe we have the best teams in the league with Arsenal and Manchester City.” Looking at them, I believe our league is now so good that most of our teams are clear favorites. even first and second, or even first and third.”
When asked if Manchester City have enough to beat Copenhagen, Simon Jordan replied, “You’d think so.” That’s a good draw for them, but in the Champions League, they have to show up and perform.
Man City will be anxious to win the Champions League again this season.
There are some intriguing ties in the Champions League last-16.
“The tie, for me, is Leipzig vs Real Madrid as both of those sides score goals and so if you’re watching games and you want to see goals then you’re going to see goals between Leipzig and Real Madrid.”
