What Chelsea loanee Kendry Paez did last night made history in South American

Kendry Paez, a Chelsea loanee, was back in the spotlight last night when he played in the Ecuadorian Cup final.

As his team, Independiente del Valle, faced off against LDU Quito in the final, the 16-year-old found the net in spectacular fashion to put his club ahead in the first half.

Even though the advantage only lasted a few minutes, it was a moment that will go down in South American football history.

Paez became the youngest player in history to score in the Ecuadorian Championship Final, adding to the numerous milestones he has achieved in the early stages of what promises to be a remarkable career.

He has already established himself as a regular starter for Ecuador’s national team, where he plays with Chelsea star Moises Caicedo in midfield.

The youth broke Pele’s long-held record of being the youngest player to contribute to a goal in South American international football.

As he continues to improve, it has been suggested that Mauricio Pochettino may be poised to have his first glimpse at the player.

According to recent reports, he will be training with the first team this week, as his domestic season in Ecuador is drawing to an end.

He will also be present at Stamford Bridge when the Blues return to action tomorrow night in the crucial EFL Cup clash against Newcastle United.

With the world apparently at his feet and his talent already being likened to the likes of Jude Bellingham, there is good reason why Chelsea fans are so thrilled to see him in play when he can eventually join the first squad in 2025.
