The Football Association punished Manchester City £120,000 (S$200,000) after their players swarmed a match official during their dramatic 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month in the Premier League.
Several City players confronted referee Simon Hooper late in the game on December 3 when he stopped play as Jack Grealish went through on goal for a foul on Erling Haaland in the buildup after previously waving play-on.
“Manchester City FC admitted that they did not ensure that their players did not act inappropriately during the 94th minute.” Following a hearing, an impartial Regulatory Commission imposed this sentence,” the FA said on Monday (Dec 18).
City were held to a third consecutive league draw after Tottenham Hotspur’s Dejan Kulusevski headed a 90th-minute equalizer after Grealish’s 81st-minute strike appeared to have clinched the win.
