In their semi-final match in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, City easily defeated Urawa Red Diamonds 3-0.

For much of the first half, the Japanese defense was excellent, but an own goal by Marius Hoibraten right before halftime broke the tie.

By the 60th minute, City had added two more goals, with Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva both scoring.

They will now face South American champions Fluminense in the final, which will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and Discovery+ on Friday, December 22. The game begins at 6 p.m. GMT.

“We didn’t win it [before] – it’s the first time Manchester City are here,” remarked Pep Guardiola. “This is the final step – a title the club lacks, so we’ll go for it.”

“To reach this final, you must have accomplished incredible feats, most notably winning the Champions League.” Once we arrive, perhaps it will be a once-in-a-lifetime trophy.

“It’s against Fluminense, a South American team with a lot of quality and experience.” I saw how excellent they are yesterday.

“However, we are present. We’ll start seeing Fluminense tomorrow and hope to put up a nice show and win the title.”

Guardiola has already won the Club World Cup twice, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

City’s star striker Erling Haaland has been ruled out of the competition due to a foot ailment, but the team will still be regarded the favorite to face Fluminense.

The South American team, who defeated Al Ahly 2-0 to reach the final, includes well-known names such as Felipe Melo and Marcelo.

This year’s Club World Cup is the final one before the event expands to 32 teams, including 12 European teams, in 2025.
