Borussia Dortmund is in talks with Manchester United to bring back Jadon Sancho

If there is one player who should or will leave Manchester United in the January transfer window, it is Jadon Sancho. He hasn’t played since August, and he’s been completely cut off from the rest of the team since September. What caused this to happen? Basically, manager Erik ten Hag responded to a reporter question on why Sancho wasn’t in the matchday squad by saying that the player didn’t show enough in training to make the team.

The English winger/attacking midfielder was suspended internally, and re-integration required a public apology, which never occurred. As a result, here we are. On the last day of June 2021, United paid close to $100 million to Borussia Dortmund for Sancho, and it now appears that he will return there.

Borussia Dortmund has publicly denied suggestions that they would give Donyell Malen (the youngster they signed as a straight replacement for Sancho two years ago) as part of a prospective swap deal. Nonetheless, Sancho remains popular at BVB, and the club appears to be leading the way right now in terms of obtaining (or, in this case, re-acquiring) the huge flop.

However, Dortmund will face stiff competition within their own division, as RB Leipzig is also said to be interested. However, considering his £250,000 weekly salary and United’s demand for at least €35 million (£30 million), transferring him will be extremely difficult.

That will be a difficult sell given A.) the player’s serious attitude issues (which have been widely documented) everywhere he’s played and B.) his form over the last two years.

Erik ten Hag has no regrets over his handling of Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho is one of five players on our short list of those most likely to leave Manchester United in January.

United are unlikely to spend much money trying to replace Sancho, or anyone else in the next window, after been slammed with Financial Fair Play sanctions today.
