The Los Angeles Galaxy selected two players in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas, today. The Galaxy drafted goalie Ethan Brandt from Western Michigan University in the second round (46th overall) and midfielder Tucker Lepley from UCLA in the third round (62nd overall). Earlier in the day, the Galaxy transferred forward Miguel Berry’s player rights to Atlanta United FC in return for their natural second round draft pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft.
Brandt, a Torrance, California native, joins the Galaxy after posting 10 shutouts and 73 saves in 25 career games for Western Michigan University (2021-23). Brandt recorded 10 shutouts, 73 saves, and an 18-1-4 record in his first season as a full-time starter in 2023, helping lead the Broncos to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Brandt was also selected the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and a First-Team All-MVC selection.
Lepley, 21, was chosen by LA following a three-year stint at UCLA (2021-23) in which he scored 11 goals and had 10 assists in 45 games (41 starts). Lepley was named First Team All-Pac-12 in 2023 after scoring three goals and assisting on two others in 18 games (18 starts) and leading UCLA to their first Pac-12 title since 2012. After notching five goals and seven assists in 19 matches (19 starts) as a redshirt freshman in 2021, the Charlotte, N.C. native was voted the Bruins’ Team MVP. Lepley was also a member of the Sporting Kansas City Academy, appearing in 10 games (5 starts) for Swope Park Rangers during the 2019 USL Championship Regular Season.
