Manchester United forward Antony, according to pundit Eamon Dunphy, is utterly ‘useless’.
Dunphy said on The Stand that Erik ten Hag signed a complete dud in Antony.
Antony moved to Old Trafford last summer after Man United paid a fee of about £86 million.
Last season, the 23-year-old had a decent debut campaign, putting in some encouraging performances on the right side.
Despite making 18 appearances in all competitions, the winger has yet to score or assist this season.
And it’s safe to say that Eamon Dunphy isn’t thrilled with Ten Hag’s choice to sign his former Ajax star.
Dunphy gave his assessment on Antony’s impact at United so far on The Stand.
“Antony cost £90 million from Ajax, Ten Hag’s old club,” claimed the pundit. “He’s had opportunity after opportunity. He uses him every week, he’s worthless.”
Antony was a crucial element of Ten Hag’s team last season, but he needed to improve his end product. He, like a many of United’s forwards, has struggled to make an impression this season.
Indeed, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund have struggled to contribute consistently in the final third, with the latter still to score his maiden league goal.
The Red Devils have been unimpressive offensively this season, scoring only 18 goals in 17 league outings.
Antony and others will need to stand up in the coming weeks to assist Ten Hag in guiding United through a challenging period.
There is no doubt that the Brazilian winger possesses the necessary talent and has previously excelled under the Dutchman’s tutelage at Ajax.
But, judging on his performances thus far, United appear to have overpaid substantially for Antony.
