With Christmas fast coming, we chatted to a number of Chelsea players from both our men’s and women’s teams about their favorite holiday memories as we countdown to the big day.

To start off the campaign, we spoke with Romeo Lavia, who explained why family is so important at this time of year while also sending a special Christmas greeting to Chelsea supporters worldwide.

‘A traditional Christmas for me and my family normally begins on December 24, when we all get together and have a large family lunch,’ explains the midfielder.

‘There would be plenty of food, not necessarily the healthiest!’ However, it would be a good occasion to come together and share these memories.

‘Then the next day, on December 25, we would spend the morning opening all of our presents together. These are some of my favorite childhood memories.

‘When we can, we like to come together as a family. It’s the end of the year, we’re all doing different things, therefore it’s time to appreciate each other’s company. It’s a time for everyone to gather together and simply enjoy the moment.’

‘What I’d like to convey with Chelsea fans this Christmas is to just enjoy the times with your families, to take the time to show them the love you have for them, because it’s incredibly important,’ Romeo continues.

‘Of course, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!’
