Aleksander Ceferin, President of the European Union of Football Associations (UEFA), remarked on the European Court of Justice’s decision on the European Football Super League. The court ruled that UEFA’s monopoly in European club soccer was unconstitutional.
“We will not attempt to obstruct the Super League’s creators.” They are free to develop whatever they choose. Hopefully, they will begin their tournament with both clubs shortly. “Football is not for sale,” Alexander Ceferin told ESPN.
Only Barcelona and Real Madrid, the project’s initiators, have stated their intention to participate in the Super League.
The Super League is expected to have 64 clubs participating. The launch is scheduled for 2025.
