Nunez can take on a new role after Liverpool successfully recruits £32m “nightmare”

Liverpool advanced to the League Cup semi-finals with a 5-1 win over West Ham United at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Reds produced a crisp performance to dispatch the Hammers with relative ease, securing a date with Fulham in the competition’s last four.

After the heartbreak of their 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, this was a much-needed result and performance.

Jurgen Klopp’s team had 34 shots and 2.38 xG but failed to take all three points because their finishing and shot selection left a lot to be desired.

Darwin Nunez was moved out to the left side by the German manager for the cup match, rather than through the middle as a centre-forward, and he thrived in that position.

By clinching a deal for a player to lead the line, Liverpool may now permanently deploy the Uruguay international on the wing.

Liverpool transfer news – Karim Adeyemi

During the summer transfer season, it was rumored that the Reds were interested in signing Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi to improve their assault.

Federico Chiesa and Leroy Sane were also identified as objectives if the team lost Mohamed Salah, who was being pursued by Al Ittihad at the time.

According to Calcio Mercato, Klopp loves Adeyemi “a lot,” which is why the Germany international was on the list of candidates who may replace the Egypt international.

However, Liverpool could renew their interest in the £32 million Dortmund attacker and attempt to resurrect his career as a centre-forward rather than a winger.

This would give Klopp a number nine to spearhead his attack, allowing Nunez to be permanently shifted to a wide role.
