Man United’s players make dreams come true at the Manchester United Disabled Supporters’ Association’s annual dinner

“Concluding this day would constitute the epitome of a Christmas present.”

Ace, age 11, was present at Old Trafford this week for the annual dinner hosted by the Manchester United Disabled Supporters’ Association. He uttered those words.

The significant occasion on the MUDSA calendar dates back to 1989, when disabled Reds supporters were met by players including Bryan McClair and Bryan Robson.

Our athletes were ecstatic to meet motivational MUDSA members at the 34th edition of the incredible event, where they signed shirts and posed for photographs.

One of the initial individuals to appear was Raphael Varane, one day after his Man-of-the-Match performance against Liverpool at Anfield.

Since joining the club in 2021, the French defender has been present at this occasion on multiple occasions.

“It’s always great to feel the fans’ support,” he stated.

“Since Christmas is quickly approaching, it is considerate of you to share that moment with them.”

“I believe it is beneficial for the club to establish connections with members of the local community as well. I believe that it is excellent for all individuals.”

The dinner, according to Chas Banks, secretary of MUDSA, is a yearly occurrence that unites the United supporters’ association in a distinctive manner.

“The players coming down is a tradition, and it is an extremely special occasion,” he explained.

“Few occasions occur where the entire team descends. Furthermore, are you aware of what the primary concern is? “Every player adores it!”

Raphael Varane were delighted to meet our supporters at the annual MUDSA dinner.

The room was filled with that palpable pleasure as I circulated conducting interviews with individuals regarding their experiences.

It is evident that both the players and the spectators are eagerly anticipating the event.

Each participant made an effort to settle, converse, and become acquainted with those who had eagerly awaited their arrival.

Jonny Evans made his debut at the event on Monday subsequent to his reintegration into the club in the summer.

When speaking to Alejandro Garnacho about his incredible goal against Everton, one small boy exclaimed, “That was the best bicycle kick ever!”

Tom Heaton, a product of our Academy system who is intimately familiar with the club’s influence on the local community, stated, “I believe it is crucial that players experience firsthand what it means to the fans by engaging in dialogue with them. This is something that should be shared with the public.”

“Slightly reestablishing that connection is extremely beneficial.”
