Man United’s scoring difficulties continued in the Premier League with a 2-0 setback to West Ham

Manchester United’s scoring difficulties continued in a 2-0 Premier League loss at West Ham on Saturday, with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus scoring in the second half.

United has now failed to score in four consecutive games across all competitions, something that hasn’t happened since 1992, and in five of its previous six games. Rasmus Hojlund, the club’s $82 million offseason signing, was substituted in the 57th minute, extending his Premier League drought to 14 games.

What United would give to have a player like Bowen, who swapped passes with Lucas Paqueta and bundled in a finish past goalkeeper Andre Onana on the second try to give West Ham the lead in the 72nd minute with his 11th goal of the season.

Kudus then took advantage of a mistake by Kobbie Mainoo before being passed through by Paqueta to score the second goal in the 78th minute. It was his fourth goal in as many games for Ghana.

The late goals spoiled a composed United debut by 19-year-old defender Willy Kambwala, who was brought in to help solve a center-back crisis and did little wrong alongside Jonny Evans – a man 16 years older.

The problems at the opposite end of the field are sure to concern United boss Erik ten Hag following the team’s 13th defeat in 26 games in all competitions this season.

West Ham climbed ahead of Manchester United, who will be in seventh place come Christmas.
