Is Hojlund being isolated by Antony and Garnacho?

Rasmus Hojjund’s Premier League debut has been a long time coming, made even longer after Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to West Ham on Saturday.

Since we haven’t been able to go on a winning streak this season, it seems like United has a lot riding on us going into every game these days. Sadly, this year’s goals of abundance and simple victories are just wishes for Christmas.

However, there was no doubting the significance of United’s victory over former manager David Moyes yesterday. Rather, we crumbled to our 13th league loss of the year, dropping us to eighth place in the Premier League.

Rasmus Hojlund not getting enough service at Manchester United

As usual, we have to concentrate on United’s goal deficit, which will include Rasmus Hojlund, the new center forward. The 20-year-old is still without a Premier League goal.

In contrast, it is a shameful fact that Saturday’s goal scorer Jarrod Bowen has more goals in the Premier League this year than every member of Manchester United’s starting lineup.

In addition, Hojjlund received the lowest WhoScored rating (6.21) of any player on the field. This season, there have been other games where it appeared as though the Denmark international was lacking in support from his teammates. There is no denying that people surrounding him are not doing him any favors.

Throughout the entire game, Hojlund received just one pass from Antony and Alejandro Garnacho, who began for United on the wings.

Facundo Pellistri is a winger who is eager to play with the striker when he does, but he doesn’t play as much as Garnacho, Antony, or even Marcus Rashford. He like crossing the ball into the box, at least.

Hojlund is being pushed to play to his vulnerabilities and go deep instead. Or is a striker devoid of assistance the weakest thing there is?

As Hojlund scored five goals in the Champions League group stages, it wasn’t as much of an issue in Europe, but Ten Hag will need to address it in the upcoming weeks.
