Dr. Dre, the legendary rapper, hitmaker, Beats founder, and all-around billionaire, is saying goodbye to his oceanfront retreat of more than 20 years. The 57-year-old Compton native is openly asking $20 million for the Malibu villa where his ex-wife Nicole Young once lived.
Dre will still make a handsome profit even if the estate sells for substantially less than what he bought for it in 2000 ($4.8 million); Malibu home values have soared in the 22 years since. The three-story estate is also notable for being placed on a nearly 7,000 square foot property on Carbon Beach in Malibu, which has come to be one of the city’s most expensive locations.
The property is described as a “contemporary beach estate” that “exudes total luxury and sophistication.” The luxurious house, built in the early 1990s, features floor-to-ceiling glass walls that let in natural light and provide views of the river from every room. The entrance leads to a tiny lobby, which leads to a spacious great room, which is ideal for entertainment.
This suite features a stunning stone fireplace and sliding glass doors that open to a balcony with views of the beach, all of which are guarded by gates, a courtyard-style entrance, and a sophisticated security system.
