‘He is absolutely disgraceful’ – Chelsea fans blast Raheem Sterling’s ‘unfathomably bad’ decision

Raheem Sterling has come under fire from supporters on social media for not passing to a teammate while through on goal during Chelsea’s first-half loss to Wolves.

At Molineux, just after the half-hour mark, Sterling took advantage of a careless pass from the defense to take Joao Gomes’s position. With Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer behind him, they then drove towards Jose Sa, the Wolves goal.

The goalkeeper moved to his right, giving the former Man City player two alternatives, but he still went forward by himself and fired a shot at Sa, who made a great save to deny the hosts an early lead.

After Conor Gallagher recovered the ball, the Blues tried to take the lead, but the Portuguese goalkeeper was unimpressed with his subsequent attempt, and he then got into a violent argument with Gomes over his error.

Online supporters questioned why Sterling hadn’t tried to play alongside one of his colleagues as soon as the move was made.

One regretted Sterling’s choices after applauding the 29-year-old for his performance early in the match.

“That is unbelievably awful on Sterling’s part.” has shown promise thus far, but the decision-making is terrible.

“Oh my god, Raheem Sterling, that is absolutely disgraceful,” said another.

“OMG RAHEEM STERLING THATS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE YOU HAVE TO PASS!!!!!!!!!!” commented another enthusiast.

Another user, however, likened the event to Harry Kane’s inability to square the ball to Sterling during England’s 2018 World Cup semifinal match against Croatia.

Compared to when Kane didn’t square it to him, this is worse. That’s unexpected of Sterling.

Mario Lemina gave the home team the lead on minute 51, and Sterling would soon be cursing his wasted chance.

Matt Doherty doubled Wolves’ lead in stoppage time as he took advantage of a rebound inside the area to give his team a convincing victory.

As the game came to a close, Sterling would eventually register an assist when his cross found Christopher Nkunku for the Frenchman’s first goal for the team. However, it wouldn’t be enough, and Wolves held on for the victory.
