‘Boring’ Jamie Carragher astounded Manchester United has risen to seventh place

The ‘boring’ Manchester United lost to West Ham on Saturday, according to Jamie Carragher, and the only surprise about Erik ten Hag’s team is that they are as high as seventh in the Premier League.

The Red Devils suffered another defeat this weekend, falling 2-0 at the London Stadium.

The visitors were decent in the first half but fell behind in the second and had no real reaction to Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus’ goals, which were brushed aside tamely.

Carragher took issue with Ten Hag’s claim that his team had control of the game, stating he sounded like a manager nearing the end of his career at a club, and the Liverpool star had little good to say about the struggling Red Devils.

‘When I heard the manager claim they had control of the game, it reminded me a little bit of managers I’ve had when things weren’t going well in their last season,’ Carragher told Sky Sports.

‘I watched the game, and both teams played terrible. But when I saw the teams, I didn’t think Manchester United would win that game, so when it’s 2-0 to West Ham, I’m not surprised.

‘That’s what should have happened,’ I reasoned. [Lucas] Paqueta is involved in both goals and is the greatest player on the field, which I knew before the game.

Right now, Jamie Carragher has the upper hand against Gary Neville.

‘Manchester United’s position in the league is the biggest surprise this season. I can’t believe how bad they’ve been considering how far up the table they are. If they could string two or three wins together, they’d be in the Champions League!

‘Right now, they’re a fairly average team, and the worst thing you can ever say about Man United is that they’re boring. That’s not a dig; we were rivals, and even when they were losing, they’d go for the neck.

‘They’ve now scored 18 goals in 18 games, the same as Luton Town. That’s not Manchester United.’
