AFCON 2023 is scheduled to begin in mid-January and end in mid-February. Some European clubs are dissatisfied with the competition because some of their finest players will be unavailable in the new year.

Mo Salah has been the Merseyside club’s backbone and is widely regarded as one of the top players in English football over the years. He is the Reds’ leading scorer and will be much missed.

Salah has reached the back of the net 16 times in 25 appearances this season, and he has seven assists. Twelve of these 16 goals were scored in 18 Premier League outings.

Egypt is in Group B, which also includes Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique. Salah will miss matches against Arsenal in the FA Cup, Fulham in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg, and Bournemouth in the Premier League. The second leg of the semi-final will take place two days after Egypt’s final group game. If they do not advance to the knockout stage, he is unlikely to appear in this match.

If Egypt is eliminated in the group round, Salah might miss only one Premier League match. However, if the Pharaohs reach their third final in four competitions on 11 February, the winger will be absent for league games against Chelsea (31 January), Arsenal (4 February), and Burnley (10 February). 

Liverpool fans will be hoping that their superstar returns after the group stage, but Salah will be upset. The Egyptian King will be aiming for a title win for his country.
