‘Erik ten Hag’s words at Manchester United killed Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho’

Erik ten Hag’s comments on Jadon Sancho, according to former Liverpool great Jose Enrique, “killed” the Manchester United youngster.

The 23-year-old has only played 76 minutes of Premier League football this season and hasn’t appeared for the club since a 30-minute cameo against Nottingham Forest on August 26.

The England international was barred from all first-team activities at Manchester United after a public spat with his manager in which he accused the Dutchman of lying about his removal from the squad that lost 3-1 to Arsenal earlier this season.

During his post-match interview, the 53-year-old suggested Sancho’s poor training performances led to his omission from the matchday squad, which the former Borussia Dortmund star vehemently denied on social media, writing: “Please don’t trust everything you hear! I will not tolerate people expressing things that are entirely false.

“I performed admirably in training this week.” I believe there are more reasons for this, which I will not discuss. It’s not fair that I’ve been used as a scapegoat for so long!” His failure to apologize to Ten Hag has resulted in his exile, and many believe his career in Manchester is ended.

He’s only played 76 minutes this season.

During an exclusive interview with Daily Star Sport, Enrique, who played for Liverpool for five years, said the ex-Ajax manager was wrong to openly criticize Sancho. “It’s wrong what Ten Hag said in the press, I think it killed him [Sancho],” the Spaniard claimed. Ten Hag has been chastised for his man-management tactics, and he clashed with Cristiano Ronaldo during his second spell in Manchester.

Despite scoring 18 league goals in his first season back for the Red Devils, Ronaldo, 38, was primarily relegated to the bench upon Ten Hag’s arrival in 2022. During an interview with Piers Morgan, the Portuguese legend shockingly declared that he has no “respect” for the management, prompting his departure from the club two months later.

In his final season with Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo essentially became a bench option for Erik ten Hag.

Enrique praised Ten Hag’s statements on Cristiano, saying, “I think [Ten Hag’s] comments about Cristiano killed him.” The manager handled the situation quite well in light of the fact that he is f***ing Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Nonetheless, Enrique objected to Sancho’s public humiliation and stated that the situation should have been kept private. “But I don’t think it was good for him to go in the press and say what he said [about Sancho].” These are the kinds of topics I believe they should keep private and discuss among themselves.”
