Erik ten Hag stayed with his United lineup at halftime, and his bold move paid off handsomely as Alejandro Garnacho’s double and Rasmus Hojlund’s winning goal turned the game around.

After a bad touch from John McGinn, the 20-year-old attacker swiveled neatly and finished superbly beyond Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

It’s evident how much that goal meant to the Danish attacker, as he sprinted toward the area where the crowd were celebrating his great moment with an exuberant celebration.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport after the game versus Villa, Hojlund said, “I’m the happiest man alive right now.” I’m glad I got the first one, and I can now build on it.

Garnacho, one of his attack partners in the front three, was also pleased for the former Atalanta striker. “I am delighted for Rasmus [Hjlund].” “Too many people talk about Man United’s strikers,” Garnacho told Amazon Prime.

Ten Hag would have been impressed with the Danish striker’s ability to protect the ball from the Villa defence, who are obviously physically powerful; this has always been the case, even when Holjund has struggled.

It was a genuinely memorable occasion for the young striker, reminiscent of Federico Macheda’s debut goal for the Red Devils against Aston Villa during the title race in 2009.

The challenge for Hojlund is to build on such a fantastic experience and not let it go away with a crucial game against Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest side coming up.

Hojlund has shown promise throughout his time at Old Trafford but has struggled to find the back of the net; this must be the moment that kickstarts his season.
