Bruno Fernandes sends message to Rasmus Hojlund after his first Premier League goal

With Rasmus Hojlund breaking his Premier League duck against Aston Villa, Bruno Fernandes hopes the striker’s best days at Manchester United are still to come.

The Dane had not scored in almost 1,000 minutes in the competition, but his goal in the 82nd minute gave his team, who was behind two goals at the half, an incredible 3-2 comeback.

Old Trafford erupted when Hojlund’s first-time effort off the post ended the team’s four-game losing streak, much to the delight of his United teammates.

After the ball struck the net, Fernandes was also seen celebrating wildly, and Andre Onana raced up from his goal to join in the fun. After the game, Fernandes was questioned by Amazon Prime Video about his happiness for Hojlund.

“Not just for him, but we really needed this because it was 3-2,” he remarked. “As a striker, we are aware that he must score goals. He wants to complete it.

“Our strikers need confidence to score more goals, and they understand that they will face pressure because they play for some of the biggest teams in the world.” He is aware of the attention that comes with playing for this club, so he just needs to get used to it.

The Reds captain responded, “Not much, honestly, because it’s not going to change anything we do on the pitch,” when asked if the team had discussed the news. Aside from that, okay, if they bring in some new players who can help us, we have to be the ones on the field making the difference we need to.

It goes without saying that we see everything these days—we cannot avoid social media and newspapers. Even though we are aware of the club’s current struggles, nothing we do on the field will be affected. We concentrate on the team, ourselves, and what we can manage—our performance and ourselves.

Fernandes acknowledged that the team’s challenging season has caused some incredulity within the locker room, but he maintained that this is typical during such trying circumstances. He presented the campaign’s hardships as moral assessments.

“Belief is essential because it will be challenging if you don’t believe in one another,” he emphasized. “It’s clear that even in these final moments, you continue to doubt yourself.

It’s common to feel like you’re not good enough to be here sometimes, especially when things aren’t going your way. It’s how you overcome that and achieve outcomes even when things are not going well that counts, not how confident or courageous you are.
