Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has admitted that a return to Benfica is in his future plans.
Bernardo expresses a desire to spend his final days with Benfica.
“Of course, I want to return, and I hope it happens one day […], but at the moment it would be impossible because Manchester City would demand a lot of money,” he told A Bola.
“I am a player worth more than 50 million euros.” No Portuguese team can afford to pay that sum. If I return, it will be when my contract expires.
“When I was younger, I saw Barça with young players like Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi, and they were coached by Pep.” That was a source of inspiration for me. Watching a Barcelona game was obviously inspirational, and one of my ambitions was to be coached by Pep.”
Bernardo also mentioned how City teammate Erling Haaland was passed up for the Ballon d’Or.
“If Bayern wins the Champions League, the Bayern striker who scored 40 goals this season will win the Ballon d’Or,” he continued. City wins the Champions League… and it wasn’t Haaland by chance, since (Lionel) Messi won the World Cup. If it hadn’t been for Messi’s World Cup, Haaland would have taken home the Ballon d’Or.”
