The rivalry between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics is expanding thanks to Heat legend Udonis Haslem.
On the latest episode of ‘The OGs’ podcast, Haslem shared his opinion on Miami retiring the jersey of the late Bill Russell.
“Tell me when you’re going to see a Miami Heat jersey hanging in Boston,” Haslem said. “I had to repent that, I love Bill. No disrespect to Bill,” Haslem stated. “He just caught that stray. Respect to Bill Russell.”
Celtics star guard Jaylen Brown had no problem sharing his thoughts on the situation by liking a post on X.
“MJ ain’t play a single game for da Heat and them glazers retired his jersey not a single peep about it from UD,” one user posted. “But the civil rights activist who passed away u mad about? LMAO”
The post came as a response to the video, which displayed Haslem’s comments. The situation has erupted on social media, causing a divide between Heat and Celtics fans.
Miami and Boston held a postseason rivalry during the Big Three era. It has once again come to light with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo knocking out Brown and Jayson Tatum in the Eastern Conference Finals multiple times in the past five seasons.
