David Beckham’s $20 million Miami Penthouse: A Luxurious Oasis with a Private Helipad

Goooaaalll! David Beckham just paid $20 million for a penthouse in Miami’s landmark One Thousand Museum tower, which includes a rooftop helipad.

Beckham and his wife, Victoria, a former Spice Girl turned fashion designer, have just closed on a full-floor, five-bedroom unit in the 62-story building built by Zaha Hadid.

The power couple purchased the 11,000-square-foot apartment because they plan to spend more time in Florida. David, 44, is a co-owner of Inter Miami CF, Miami’s new Major League Soccer side, which lost 1-0 to the Los Angeles Galaxy in their debut last month.

Beckham and his allies are in the process of building a new $1 billion stadium called Miami Freedom Park, which is set to open in 2022.

It’s unclear which floor of the landmark building the Beckhams will live on. Their penthouse is one of 10 in the building, which has 84 apartments, including a two-story duplex penthouse, four townhouses, and 70 half-floor units. Prices range from $5,900,000 to $21,855,000.

The One Thousand Museum skyscraper, located near downtown Miami and offering stunning views of the Miami skyline and Biscayne Bay, was built by Iraqi-born celebrity architect Zaha Hadid. In March 2016, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect died of a heart attack in Miami while working on the building.

The 705-foot-tall structure, called “Scorpion Tower” due to its exoskeleton construction, was featured in a PBS documentary series Impossible Builds.

The Beckhams will have access to all of the building’s five-star and above facilities. Aside from the 61st-floor swimming pool, there is a two-story fitness and wellness retreat, a private beach club, and a multi-media theater for private film screenings.

The stunning double-height Sky Lounge boasts Hadid’s arching, water drop-patterned interior walls and is catered by Mame Sow, the One Thousand Museum’s culinary director.

The Beckhams and their four children will also be able to enter and exit the building without being followed by photographers thanks to the building’s private rooftop helipad, Miami’s first on a residential skyscraper.

Beckham Brands Limited, David Beckham’s partnership and licensing firm, purchased the unit. The acquisition appears to have begun in the autumn of 2016 and was formally completed in late March.

The Beckhams appear to have paid top dollar for their unit, reportedly spending $20 million. On March 19, a comparable one-story penthouse sold for $13.8 million, according to public records.

The couple should not be anxious about the unexpected million. They also own a beautiful $36 million property in Holland Park, London, and a $7.5 million country estate in England’s bucolic Cotswolds, for a total estimated value of $900 million.
