With one assist against Everton, Bernardo Silva tied Cristiano Ronaldo’s Premier League assist record.
In the 53rd minute, the Portuguese international set up Phil Foden with a pass outside the box, and the England international scored a spectacular long-range goal to bring Manchester City back into the game. With his 37th assist for the Cityzens, Silva surpassed Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s Premier League record.
Ten minutes after Foden’s equalizer, Julian Alvarez scored from the penalty spot for the reigning champions. Silva then secured the game in the 86th minute with a superb goal. This season, the former AS Monaco player has five goals and four assists in 16 league games for the Sky Blues.
In the summer, the attacking midfielder was connected with a move to Saudi Arabia, along with PSG and Barcelona, but he elected to stay in the Premier League. He later agreed to a new contract with the European champions that will keep him at the club until 2026.
The victory at Goodison Park will give Pep Guardiola’s team a major boost, as they have trimmed the gap to league leaders Liverpool to five points and risen back to fourth position. On Saturday, the English champions will face Sheffield United in their final game of the season.
