Nicki Minaj launched her rap career in 2002. She became a member of the Hood$tars, a New York rap group comprised of rappers Safaree “SB” Samuels, Loustar, and Svn-Up, who would eventually become her long-term spouse.
Minaj attempted a solo career after Hood$tars disbanded in 2005. In the late 2000s, she released the mixtapes Beam Me Up Scotty (which was re-issued in 2021), Sucka Free, and Playtime Is Over.

Minaj had an appearance in the hip-hop DVD series The Come Up during her rise in New York. It was created by rapper irty Money’s indie label, irty Money Records, based in New York.
Minaj appeared on numerous Come Up DVDs. According to MTV News, Lil Wayne discovered her on one of these street DVDs. Lil Wayne, who has been a big presence in the hip-hop business for over a decade, and Minaj were both featured on the subsequent Come Up DVD, named “Wayne’s World.”
During one of her Come Up performances, Dirty Money revealed candidly, “I f— with only the best,” while sitting next to a young Minaj. “I wouldn’t be here right now if she wasn’t the best.” “I only f— with the best.”

Minaj, who is married and has a child, has only released dribbles of music since her 2018 album Queen. She does, however, have a strong bond with Wayne.
Wayne himself was the “special guest” that surprised Minaj’s followers on a much-anticipated Instagram Live in July 2021. They still adore one another and treat one other as if they were siblings.
