This comes after Davies stated that he would like to reclaim Messi’s jersey in 2020 after his Bayern Munich team destroyed Messi’s Barcelona 8-2 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. However, he was unable to obtain it at the time, alleging that the forward was upset following the loss.

Davies told BT Sport after the game, “It’s a great feeling to win.”

“I asked for it, but I think he was a little bit upset,” the left-back told BT Sport. “It’s OK, next time hopefully.”

When Bayern faced PSG in the first leg of the 2023 Champions League Round of 16, the two eventually swapped jerseys. The Bundesliga giants triumphed 1-0 at Parc des Princes on the night and went on to win 2-0 in the rematch in what was Messi’s final UCL game. He departed the Ligue 1 club at the end of the 2022-23 season to join the MLS club Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi will miss up to seven games for Inter Miami in 2024, according to the MLS schedule

The forward could miss games with his commitments to the national side.

Lionel Messi, the star of Inter Miami, will miss up to seven games for the club in the 2024 season. On December 20, the American league revealed their schedule for the forthcoming season, and the Argentine superstar would miss certain games owing to national team duties.

The Copa America will be hosted in the United States in June and July, with the 36-year-old expected to play a significant role in Argentina’s pursuit of yet another major trophy following their World Cup victory in 2022. He is expected to miss at least five games for the Florida team from June 15 to July 6, including matches against the Philadelphia Union, Colombus Crew, Nashville SC, Charlotte FC, and FC Cincinnati.

The final of the tournament will take place on July 14, just three days before Inter Miami’s match versus Toronto FC at the DRV PNK stadium. If La Albiceleste win the World Cup, it’s impossible to imagine the forward playing for the club right away.

Furthermore, FIFA has set an international break in the middle of March, during which the world champions could play friendly against European teams, according to reports from Argentina. As a result, Messi could miss those games as well.
