In a stylish advertising video, Rio Ferdinand said that he got a hair and beard transplant at a clinic in Turkey.
The famous English and Manchester United player went to the Dr. Cinik hospital in Istanbul to get better.
Ferdinand, 45, who is now a popular TV commentator on TNT Sports, says on the social media video shared by Dr. Cinik, “I’m here to get my beard sorted out. I’ve got a couple of holes and a couple of patches.”
“I need to get a hair transplant.” I’m excited to finish it. Listen, this is the place to be if you ever want to get yours done.
Ferdinand walks into the clinic wearing shades, greets Doctor Muhammet Emrah Cinik, and starts the different steps of the hair replacement process.
At the end, he signs a Manchester United shirt to add to the souvenirs that other football players who have visited the clinic have given.
In one picture, Ferdinand is seen looking at a group of signed shirts that include Liverpool, Marseille, Brazil, and Croatia shirts.
Even though the video came out on Monday, it’s not clear when Ferdinand went. During the group stage of the Champions League in November, United played Galatasaray, and he was on TNT’s panel of commentators for both games.
People named Ryan Babel and Bacary Sagna have also had hair transplants there, and people named David Trezeguet and Diego Lugano have gone there for dental work.
Ferdinand’s former England and United team-mate Wayne Rooney underwent a hair transplant in 2011 and again in 2013.
He said at the time of his first one: ‘I was going bald at 25, why not. I’m delighted with the result.’
Back in 2021, Ferdinand revealed he used brown dye to cover the greys in his facial hair but claimed he wasn’t ‘ashamed’ of the ageing process.
