Manchester City overcame Everton 3-1 on Wednesday, with goals in the second half from Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, and Bernardo Silva.
The Cityzens will be relieved to have gained three points to their League table for their final meeting of 2023, which concluded in a win despite being a goal behind at halftime.
City had recently won the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating Fluminense 4-0. Phil Foden, one of Manchester City’s goal scorers in that game and their most recent against Everton, spoke with the club’s official website.
“I thought we played well in the first half; it appeared to be a repeat of the previous games.” We must have faith in ourselves since we are a great squad; we did not achieve this gold badge by chance.”
“In the second half, wow, I think we blew them away with how we played.”
“We needed that goal (1-1, Phil Foden), and then we blew them away and played fantastic football, so I’m happy.” “I’m very pleased with the outcome.”
After congratulating the team on their well-earned victory, Foden mentioned one of his teammates and one of the scorers against Everton, Bernardo Silva: “He’s a tremendous footballer, one of the best I’ve ever seen.” He’s not the largest or strongest player, but the way he uses his head in the game is something I strive for.”
“We’ve got some big names coming back: Erling (Haaland), Jeremy (Doku), and Kevin (De Bruyne).” Perhaps their comeback will bolster the team. We need them right now since we’re running low on personnel; I’m looking forward to their return.”
Manchester City will play Sheffield United on Saturday, September 30th, at 15:00 (UK) in their final game before the arrival of 2024.
