After blowing a large lead against the Celtics, the Pistons have now lost 28 consecutive games, tying a franchise record

The Detroit Pistons lost 128-122 in overtime to the Boston Celtics, extending the NBA’s greatest single-season losing streak.

The Pistons led by as many as 21 points in the game and had a 19-point lead at halftime, but the Celtics recovered to win and remain perfect (15-0) at home this season.

The Pistons have now lost 28 consecutive games, tying the 76ers for the longest losing streak in NBA history, which began in the 2014-15 season and continued into the 2015-16 season.

Detroit’s most recent victory occurred on Oct. 28 against the Bulls, a 118-102 victory that boosted the Pistons’ record to 2-1 at the time.

The East-leading Celtics came into the game as a huge betting favorite, but they fumbled out of the gate, giving the Pistons a 19-point advantage at halftime.

The game swung back for Boston following a 35-16 third quarter, and the teams went into the fourth quarter tied 82-82. The score remained close throughout the fourth quarter, but the Pistons forced overtime with a tipped-in jumper by Bogdan Bogdanovic with four seconds remaining to level the game at 108-108.
