Jack Grealish could be fit for Manchester City’s match against Sheffield United on Saturday after a burglary at his home left no one hurt.
Raiders targeted the England midfielder’s Cheshire home on Wednesday night, while he was playing for treble winners City against Everton.
His family and fiancee, Sasha Atwood, were on the property at the time when they heard a disturbance and called 911.
According to reports, the robbers stole £1 million in jewelry and watches, and police are currently investigating.
“At around 9.50pm on Wednesday 27 December, police were called to reports of a burglary,” a Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said. A lot of stuff had been stolen, according to the caller.”
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed his relief that no one was injured.
Guardiola remarked at a press conference, “Fortunately, nothing bad happened where the family was inside.”
“It is what it is today in modern times, with many things going on.” It was a horrible time for him and his family, but fortunately, the people inside were unharmed.”
City will be missing striker Erling Haaland and playmaker Kevin De Bruyne once more when they face the struggling Blades, with defender John Stones the most recent addition to the injured list.
Haaland has yet to return to full training after missing six games due to a foot injury, and De Bruyne’s return is too soon.
Stones walked off the field at Goodison Park in midweek with an ankle injury and will be out for a few weeks.
“Nothing has changed,” Guardiola said of player availability. “We have the same injuries plus John Stones.”
The Blades remain bottom of the standings after a difficult return to the top flight following their promotion last season, but they have put in some encouraging displays since Chris Wilder returned as manager.
Guardiola, whose team won 3-1 at Everton in their first Premier League game in seven, expects a challenging afternoon.
“We’ve always had problems against Sheffield,” he stated.
“They put in an outstanding performance against Aston Villa.” They were on the verge of winning the game.
“It will be extremely difficult, similar to Crystal Palace.” We couldn’t achieve results at home in the last few games, so we’ll attempt to stay focused on what we need to do.”
City will play their final game of 2023, a year in which they won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, European Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
When asked to sum up the previous 12 months, Guardiola replied, “Not bad at all.” Not too shabby. It could always be better, but don’t be too greedy. It was fantastic.”
